Rapper Fat Joe goes back a long way in the sneaker game, having a certifiably crazy collection of golden era classics and unreleased gems that he continues flexing to this day. His latest on-foot bombshell is the appearance of these unreleased Air Jordan 3s during All-Star Weekend festivities, which online commentary is already dubbing the ‘Space Hippie’ for its unique construction.

In reference to its eponymous nickname, this appears to be an AJ3 remade through Nike’s eco-conscious ‘Space Hippie’ program, which has yet to reach the majority of the Jordan Brand signature line. The one exception is the Air Jordan 1, though its environmental edits have yet to hit the same hype as the regular versions. However, there might be more luck with the 3 – especially if it sees wild versions like this one.

For one, the ‘Space’ part is taken care of, thanks to the all-over silver uppers, which are presumably made in part with recycled materials. The iridescent oil slick effect – hopefully something to actually be avoided IRL – on the tongue and heels is also quite out there. Take another look at the right tongue and spot the Tinker Hatfield signature coming through!

Meanwhile, the ‘Hippie’ component comes through most clearly via the outsoles, which have that reground material look going on. Hopefully there is more to the recycled component than just the bottoms.

While this AJ3’s release status is still TBD, check out the shots on Fat Joe and let’s hope for a drop that mere mortals can cop.
