Extra Butter Spread Out with New Queens, Long Island Store
Sneaker and streetwear boutique has been an essential stop for sneakerheads in New York since 2007. While they’ve been operating a fledgling flagship store in the Lower East Side for years, they’ve just opened up a second location in Queens, Long Island.
The new Extra Butter store is attached to the historic PS1 building, which was built in 1892. In 1971, art curator Alanna Heiss established the PS1 Contemporary Art Centre here, eventually becoming the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) PS1 building. The artistry lives on with EB, who enlisted famed NY graffer to paint a massive mural on the side of the building to welcome the latest addition to the retail and art collective.
Extra Butter will be at the doorstep of PS1, welcoming visitors with an eclectic selection of product from the usual suspects like and , while also carrying some avant-garde labels like Comme des Garcons. And, with its founders being diehard movie buffs (the company name does refer to a popcorn order, after all), the store will also have a mini movie theatre inside, complete with a full concession stand for speakeasy-style screenings. Cool!
