Event Recap: Sneaker Freaker Swap Meet October 2019
Drawing in hundreds of sneakerheads of all ages from across Australia, Sneaker Freaker’s Swap Meet jamboree once again rolled into the Globe Warehouse in Port Melbourne over the weekend. As always, the vendors came through with scorching levels of heat, catering to the thrift kings and queens looking to snag a sneaker steal, as well as those ready to drop big bank on something boujee.
With the meet condensed into four hours of intense footwear festivities, there certainly was never a dull moment, especially below the ankles.
Sought-after sneakers from either side of the millennium were the calling of the day, with Air Max artefacts lining the warehouse alongside contemporary collaborations from the likes of Kanye West, Travis Scott, and Virgil Abloh.
The DJs on the decks had the crowd’s feet moving, as did a dance battle from Good Foot, and a display from the crew at Impala Roller Skates. However, the wildest moves were certainly pulled by buyers, with Grails exchanging hands from the moment the crowd were let through the doors.
First stop for many was the Sneaker Freaker table, where many walked away with The Ultimate Sneaker Book, along with a complementary copy of the brand new Issue #42.
We’re already planning our next Swap Meet, so stay tuned for the intel. In the meantime, peep our galleries above to re-live the last Swap Meet of 2019.
