Event Recap: Foot Locker Opens New Melbourne 'Power Store'

has just opened the doors of a ground-breaking new store in Melbourne. Located in QV shopping precinct, smack-bang in the city’s centre, the retailer is Melbourne’s first ‘Power Store’. The new breed of stores is categorised by its focus on customer experience, which Forbes report will be ‘a hub for local sneaker culture, art, music, and sports.’

Melbourne’s pre-party launch was prime example of how Foot Locker plans to pull local creatives. On display was the in-house basketball hoop, a throne made from sneaker boxes, a nail bar that matched fingers to sneakers, live music and, most importantly, the Heat Wall. Named for its scorching releases, the wall included all the best sneaker releases from the past few months: think ‘Bred’ AJ4s, ‘Concord’ AJ11s, ‘Infrared’ AJ6s, Adapt BBs, Pharrell x NMDs, and PSG colabs.

Hundreds were lined up when the store opened to the public the following day, and the first 1000 customers were given the chance to win prize packs to keep the fun going.
