Event Recap: Clarks Originals Celebrate Their History and NEIGHBORHOOD Colab in Paris
As we expected, Paris Fashion Week FW2020 gave the sneakersphere plenty of highlights. The big players, and a slew of up-and-comers, flexed their upcoming collections, giving us plenty to look forward to in the year to come.
Not to be overlooked, Clarks Originals used the Parisian backdrop to stage two memorable events – one nodding to the past, and the other showcasing their recent project alongside Japanese streetwear label NEIGHBORHOOD.
With the iconic Desert Boot clocking its 50th anniversary, there was more than enough cause for a celebration.
Doubling as a perfect opportunity to flaunt their key collaborations and upcoming releases, Clarks’ first event put heritage at the forefront, with the aforementioned Desert Boot taking centre stage. In line with the colour-clad creations on show, a special customisation area gave patrons a chance to dye their own Clarks creps and tags.
Backing it up the following night, Clarks called on the help of local retailer The Next Door to help showcase their latest NEIGHBORHOOD collaboration – a two-pair package featuring the Wallabee and Desert Trek. Decorated in ebony and ivory, the former is blacked-out in suede/ballistic nylon and infused with GORE-TEX. Meanwhile, the Desert Trek takes on neutral grey tones, replacing the usual crepe sole with Vibram. Used elegantly, NEIGHBORHOOD’s distinct triangular pattern and branding features on both collaborative creps.
After a busy 2019, the time-tested label has already begun the New Year with a bang. Peep the galleries above to take in the festivities.
