Erling Haaland Signs with Nike Football

Erling Haaland Nike Football

The race to sign Erling Haaland is over. According to The Athletic, the Manchester City striker has struck a deal with Nike, after a free agency period where he was being courted by other footwear brands in adidas and PUMA. Details of the deal are still unknown.

Haaland initially signed with the Swoosh at the age of 14 and strategically let his contract with Nike expire in January 2022. There is usually a six-month match rights period if he decided to sign with another brand, as he was wearing boots from Nike, adidas, and PUMA since last year.

He also trolled fans by mismatching his attire by wearing adidas apparel and Nike sneakers during his free agency period, causing more conversation on who he would sign with. Recently, Haaland posted himself wearing the Friends and Family colourway of the Tiffany x Nike Air Force 1 Low accompanied by the matching varsity jacket, all signs pointing to him signing with the Swoosh.

As Cristiano Ronaldo enters the back 9 of his career, Haaland will join PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe as the face of Nike Football. He’s been wearing the Nike Gripknit Phantom GX Elite Fusion as well as the Nike Zoom Mercurial Vapor 15 Elite as of late and expect some exclusive colourways for the Norwegian superstar in the future.
