Drake Teases Zoom Flight 95-Inspired NOCTA x Nike Model

Drake in the NOCTA x Nike Air Zoom Flight 95

2022 is shaping up to be a big year for fans of Nike's classic Zoom Flight 95. The mid-1990s basketball sneaker – most known for its circular design lines, wealth of carbon fibre detailing and NBA association with a young Jason Kidd – is both set to return in its OG black/white colourway and release as a Supreme colab, but apparently, that's not all for the cult favourite hoop shoe. Drake and his Nike-sponsored NOCTA line may be getting in on the mix as well, as the rapper was recently spotted in what appears to be a NOCTA x Nike Zoom Flight 95.

Drizzy revealed the model from his courtside seat at a recent Toronto Raptors vs Philadelphia 76ers game, which he attended with his son Adonis. Though it borrows the colour scheme and carbon fibre from the OG Zoom Flight 95, its shape and details are different: the signature pods on the midsole are multiplied and are shaped more like an oval than a proper circle, while there's also a large carbon fibre-printed overlay that, although larger than the Zoom Flight 95's, doesn't rise up quite as high – though it does feature a similar Swoosh.

Early opinions on the model (which, we should note, has yet to have any official information revealed by Nike or NOCTA) have been somewhat split. ESPN's Nick DePaula, who was the first to break the shoe, said 'I'm the biggest Zoom Flight 95 fan and purist ever ... and these are tough!' in an Instagram comment, while retired WNBA star Ty Young dropped a more neutral comment that noted the shoe looks like a mashup of Scottie Pippen and Jason Kidd kicks. Stay tuned for more info on this mysterious NOCTA x Nike sneaker as it's made available!
