Including the 80,000 tonne Pacific Garbage Patch that sits underneath the store. Thankfully, shopping at this exclusive pop up requires just an Internet connection and not a boat ride to the middle of the Pacific Ocean! Check out what’s inside.
Visitors who make the (digital) pilgrimage to the Renew Labs store have the opportunity to get their hands on some very special one-off samples and WIP prototypes created by the Converse All Stars that experiment with environmentally friendlier dyeing techniques. Imagine decorated in AirInk that recycles carbon exhaust into deep black ink. Or glow-in-the-dark paint extracted from naturally occurring Escherichia coli (aka E. coli) microbes.
These techniques, while still in experimental phases, could soon go on to revolutionise how sneakers are made, while also helping to save the planet! And you could be among the first in the world to obtain a pair by donating to , an NGO focused on ridding the world of plastic waste, who the Converse All Stars have partnered with for this pop-up store.
Also in stock at the Converse Renew Labs store is the latest iteration of the Chuck Taylor All Star Renew Crater. It’s one of the brand’s most sustainable offerings to date, thanks to its minimum 40 per cent recycled material composition (by weight) via its namesake and Crater Foam technologies. All proceeds from the Renew Labs store will go towards Take 3 initiatives. They’re hoping to remove over one million pieces of plastic from the ocean!
