Detailed Look at the Air Jordan 1 ‘University Blue’
If you thought the Air Jordan 1 was going to fade away in 2021, think again. After various leaks, it looks like a rendition in the famed ‘University Blue’ scheme is coming through early next year. We first heard about it back in May, with a speculative mock-up showing off a blue-clad AJ1 with classic blocking. Now, we’ve got our best look yet, with the colourway showcased in a Tar Heel–themed pictorial.
Revealed via sneakertigger on IG, this classic Jumpman remix is dressed predominantly with ‘University Blue’ on the uppers – most notably on the heel, ankle collar, mudguard, and eye stays. The mid panel is done in white, delivering a clean look, while the Swoosh, laces, and lining are black for contrast. Overall, it’s a familiar look that’s sure to please purists and new fans alike, and promises to be a worthy addition to the ever-growing AJ1 canon.
Fans of the AJ1 will recall the popular ‘Obsidian’ colourway from 2019, which bears similarities to this latest ‘University Blue’ rendition. After a lukewarm debut, that aforementioned take has evolved to become quite sought-after on the secondary market. We expect those who missed out on the 2019 colourway to be chasing these come 2021.
No official release info has been revealed, but rumours suggest a drop sometime in February 2021.
