This past weekend saw Canada's amateur skaters shred the block for the title of DC's King of Vancouver. After two days of competition at two separate sets of obstacles at the skate plaza in downtown Vancouver, congratulations go to JS Lapierre on his win and take of $7,000. With 41 skaters aged between 13-27 competing, the two-day competition saw cats judged on technical skill, tricks and all-round premium skating with $10,000 in total up for grab.

Out of the prize money given to the top six KOV finishers, Lapierre took home $7,000. Second and third place went to Dallas Ives and John Hanlon respectively. DC not only hooked up Canadian amateurs this weekend, but also the City of Vancouver and the skate community in general. At the conclusion of DC King of Vancouver, a cheque for $10,000 was presented to the City for repairs and maintenance on the downtown skate plaza. The money helps ensure the plaza remains the centre for the Vancouver skate scene for years to come. For more info go to DC's website to catch all the action.
