Could LeBron James' Nike Allegiance Make Him a Portland Trail Blazer?

Once we close the book on this year’s NBA Finals, there’s one basketball story that’s likely to continue dominating the back page: where will play next season? Philadelphia, Houston and LA have been tossed up as potential destinations, but one of Bron’s former teammates thinks there may be a dark horse in race for the King’s signature.

Appearing on recent episode of ESPN's Jalen & Jacoby, ex-Cleveland Cavalier Richard Jefferson speculated that LeBron could be Portland Trail Blazer next season. His reasoning? and his connection with co-founder Phil Knight.

‘Obviously LeBron has a connection to Oregon because of his relationship with Nike,’ said Jefferson. ‘Phil Knight being a really big LeBron fan, I think wants to get him up there. I mean, they could build a whole new campus up there. Portland has now entered into the unfounded, irresponsible speculation of free agency around LeBron.’

Portland will have the NBA's eighth highest payroll next season, so the move seems farfetched at this point. That being said, we do know LeBron is a big fan of Trail Blazer star Damian Lillard, so fans can always dream.
