Update March 27, 2023: The Comme des Garçons Homme Plus x Nike Terminator is set to drop on April 1, 2023, via Dover Street Market outlets for $235.

Comme des Garçons Homme Plus are all but heralding the return of the Nike Terminator via a collaborative collection for SS23. This marks the model’s first release since circa 2014 and is likely the beginning of a wider rollout of the retro model.

CDG’s collaborations fall anywhere from basique heart-labelled plimsolls to wildly experimental subversions of classic designs. These Terminators – previewed by Yuki Abe in Paris during PFW – veer closer to safe territory and simply add two-toned palettes plus some logo swaps. This latter element is obviously seen on the large heel logo on the left shoe: instead of reading ‘NIKE’, it’s ‘CDG’.

As for the colourways, the collection sticks to classic collegiate colours and primary shades, namely red, blue and black against white uppers. Given the Terminator silhouette is already quite formidable, CDG have done well not to go over the top with colours and materials – for now.

Since these shoes have just been previewed for SS23, it’ll be quite a while yet before they land in stores. And with Nike putting the investment into reviving a model that’s not been seen for almost 10 years, it’s almost inevitable that they’ll be getting their money’s worth by introducing a plethora of colourways to the point of saturation, a la the Dunk.
