Closer Look: The Salehe Bembury x New Balance 574 ‘Yurt’
Following the cryptic clue that leaked late last month, more imagery and details have emerged for Salehe Bembury’s latest colab with New Balance. This expanded gallery – unveiled on Bembury’s IG account – provides a look at the whole shoe, and also reveals the all-important model: the legendary NB 574.
This earthy and tonal scheme represents the latest chapter in Bembury’s successful partnership with New Balance, key highlights including his 2002R ‘Peace Be The Journey’,, 2002R ‘Water Be The Guide’, and the wild Test Run Project 3.0 ‘Finders Keepers’.
An interesting design feature is the ‘Yurt’ text emblazoned on the tongue, the word referring to the portable, round tents that are used by nomadic groups across central Asia. This stays in line with Bembury’s recent NB colabs and their rich outdoor-inspired themes. As for the unique pointy plastic knob that protrudes from the heel, exactly what that references remains to be seen.
Release details remain hush hush for this latest colab, but we’ll be sure to let you know once a date is given.
