Check Out the New Sneaker Freaker x NB 574 Book!
Thirty years in the making, the new Sneaker Freaker x New Balance 574 book is a long overdue celebration of the most underrated sneaker in the business. Never advertised or even formally acknowledged in late-80s product catalogues, the 574 has nevertheless gone on to become the highest selling NB of all time – an incredible achievement!
Focusing on the design history as part of the original '5 series' of off-road runners, the 574 story gathers pace as the shoe blows up in Tokyo in the early 2000s. Gracing the pages of Popeye and FRUiTS magazine, the 574 served as a collaborative partner with everyone from Haze to G-Shock and Shelf Life. We also track down Kevin Downie, perhaps the only hard core collector of 574s in the world. Time to pay tribute to 'the perfect shoe at the perfect price!'
Unfortunately, this is one of those money-cant-buy publishing projects – yeah we know! – but if you have a plug at the brand, we best suggest you get on the phone pronto. For everyone else, check out the Sneaker Freaker WIN section because we'll be giving away a few copies to our readers.
And if all else fails, check out the content over at the 574 microsite.
