Nike’s Zoom Vaporfly Elite is the world’s fastest shoe, one of the rarest and perhaps one of the most expensive. The marathon sneaker was for a handful of Nike athletes, which means it will never be produced in commercial quantities and most will never see a pair with their own eyes. The official production count is unknown, but a little while ago Nike put up for runners who logged a 5km run on their Nike+ Run Club app.
Not surprisingly, one of the lucky winners has decided to unburden themselves of the rare runner by flogging them on – when the ultimate commodity is scarcity then a shoe like this won’t come cheap. So, exactly how much is the mysterious seller asking? A whopping $10,000 USD! The auction is already six days deep and hasn’t had any bids. Only time will tell if there’s someone out there who wants the shoes that bad, but with the state of today’s resale market stranger things have happened.
