Behold the First-Ever Louis Vuitton Skate Shoe!

It’s only taken 166 years, but Louis Vuitton are entering the skate shoe market with an upcoming Lucien Clarke pro model. Designed by LV’s Virgil Abloh, this luxury kickflipper draws upon plenty of skate history.

As revealed via Clarke’s and Abloh’s Instagram accounts, plus full-page ads in Thrasher, this model bears resemblance to early-2000s skate shoes, but is trimmed down slightly for a modern take.

Equal parts premium skate shoe and swanky street sneaker, it’s so far a low-key debut in monochromatic grey, but monogram branding and orange accents add just a touch of neon nous. Lucien Clarke’s name appears in handwritten style on the lateral midfoot mudguard to confirm this sneaker’s signature status. It looks like there’ll be more colourways coming too, as Abloh’s Instagram post revealed a lighter grey pair with green accents.
