Balenciaga Still the Hottest Fashion Brand, According to Report
According to The Lyst Index, Balenciaga have topped the list of hottest fashion brands for Q4 2021, repeating their number one result from the previous quarter. Their highlights have included a unique collaboration with The Simpsons for their SS22 show, a 1990s-flavoured ‘The Lost Tapes’ FW22 collection, and creative director Demna Gvasalia winning the CFDA Fashion Awards for Global Women’s Designer 2021.
The Lyst Index is conducted by retailer Lyst, who have been compiling data on fashion brands for the past 18 quarters. Their statistics are compiled from shopper behaviour of over 160 million visits across 17,000-plus labels and stores. Also informing the results is Google search data, social media mentions and engagement across three month periods.
Rounding out the top five entries were Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Moncler, the latter jumping up from 11th position the previous quarter. Nike – the only sneaker brand in the top 20 – fell seven spots from Q3’s sixth place to a perhaps unlucky 13.
Despite taking out top spot for Q4, no specific Balenciaga items featured in The Lyst Index’s ‘Hottest Products’ compilations for neither men’s nor women’s categories. Perhaps the ongoing Ye endorsement will see the brand top out Q1 2022 when Lyst release their next index.
