Authenticity Guaranteed! eBay Make Moves to Stamp Out Fakes in Germany

Germany is home to some of the world’s most passionate sneakerheads, and now eBay Germany are giving the country’s footwear fiends never-before-seen peace of mind when copping all the latest and greatest kicks. As part of the eBay-Echtheitsprüfung, locals now have access to nearly 90,000 sneaker listings, direct from the US, which all come with the ‘Mit Echtheitsprüfung’ badge!

eBay partners with expert third-party authenticator Sneaker Con, allowing you to shop with confidence, without the worry of your next sneaker purchase being a counterfeit pair. All authentication costs, including the price of international delivery from the authentication centre to the buyer in Germany, are covered by eBay. This means, for most badged listings, delivery will be free! The program applies to all sneakers purchased for over 100 Euros.

The process is pretty simple. Once a pair of eligible sneakers is sold on eBay, they’ll be sent to the dedicated authentication center in Berlin for a physical inspection. Authentic pairs are then shipped to the buyer with a little NFC-Tag on them. When it arrives, the tag can be scanned with your phone to open an encrypted digital certificate showing the product’s details, size, SKU, and date of authentication. As each certificate is unique, the tags cannot be reused or replicated. Wunderbar!

Covering both new and pre-owned sneakers, the program will give you protection when shopping all your favourite brands, including Jordan Brand, Yeezy, Nike, adidas, New Balance, Vans, ASICS, Reebok, Converse, and PUMA.
