Japanese label AURALEE caused quite a stir with their 'heartwarming sun peeking through silver clouds and snowy skies' -inspired FW22 runway this past weekend, and one of the standout offerings was a trio of XC-72 colabs done in partnership with New Balance. A follow-up to the two's minimalist 550s, sporty 2002Rs and smoky R-C2s from 2021, the three-pack of new kicks imagines the AURALEE FW22 palette in a fashion that's equal parts luxury and sport.
Rich chocolate brown, icy cobalt blue and a sunny mixture of pastel yellow and tan were the three colour schemes chosen, with each model featuring a suede-and-leather construction. The brown and pastel yellow pairs opt for sleek shorthair suede while the cobalt blue iteration instead equips shaggy longhair suede for extra texture, but all three feature the same forked toebox, large midfoot N logo and rubberized external heel counter. Blocky midsoles and chunky, flecked outsoles that boast a hike-ready traction pattern and rise onto the toebox complete the trio of looks.
Currently, there's no release info available for these AURALEE x New Balance XC-72 colabs. However, they're likely to release later in 2022.
