atmos have expanded across the globe since opening up their first store in 2000, but according to Footwear News, the Japanese retailer are shutting down their three U.S. stores as well as their e-commerce platform.

In a statement given to FN, atmos SVP and GM Patrick Walsh has stated that they’ve made the strategic decision to focus on operations in Japan and Asia, and they ‘are confident that this is the right move for atmos and will help us continue to work in service of bringing sneaker and street culture to our customers in Asia.’

atmos opened up their first location in the U.S. in 2005, located in Harlem in New York City. The retailer eventually merged with Philly and D.C. retailer UBIQ in 2020, with Foot Locker acquiring atmos in 2021 for $1.1 billion along with WSS.
