Another Look! atmos, First Down and ASICS' GEL-Lyte III Colab

Update March 31, 2022: atmos creative director Hirofumi 'Koji' Kojima has once again taken to Instagram, this time to share a second look at atmos' upcoming collaboration with First Down and ASICS! The first image shared only revealed a single shoe of each design, however now it looks like you can in fact expect to see a duo of GEL-Lyte IIIs drop! Stay tuned for upcoming release info.

New York City and Tokyo may be on opposite ends of the globe, but they're both kept humming – well, at least moving – by intricate metro systems. The transit maps of these metro systems are a vivid exercise in line and colour, and have inspired atmos and First Down to splash them all over a GEL-Lyte III colab with ASICS.

Revealed by longtime atmos creative director Hirofumi 'Koji' Kojima, the co-created capsule appears to supply two takes on the GEL-Lyte III: one covered in the NYC subway map, the other in Tokyo's subway map. Since there's only a single photo of a left and right shoe, not two sets, it's also possible that this collaboration is a 'What The'-style sneaker that calls out NYC on its left foot and Tokyo on its right foot, though this outcome is less likely. The duo of shoes are also accompanied by two First Down jackets, each with a full-colour print of its respective city's subway system.

atmos are, of course, no stranger to three-headed ASICS collaborations, or geography-inspired styles. In 2020 they partnered with Round Two's Sean Wotherspoon for a customizable corduroy GEL-LYTE III, and in 2018 they released a world-map covered GEL-LYTE III as well – though these pairs are decidedly more local than global.
