At some point in our lives we have all surely imagined what it would be like if the Nike Air Max was an intergalactic travel vessel piloted by a robot. Romanian artist Ghica Popa is simply the man to finally take our common thoughts and produce a proper blueprint. To kick off his new Air Max illustration series, Ghica has depicted a Nike Air Max 90, an Air Max 1 and an Air Max 180 flying through cartoon space and landing on cartoon moon. Ghica says he has always been obsessed with robots and vehicles and wanted to do something special to celebrate his favourite sneaker, so he combined all three passions into the pieces in the gallery below.
"I guess every sneaker enthusiast dreams to do more than just wear his favourite pairs," Ghica tells Sneaker Freaker. "Some are maybe thinking of designing a new sneaker model, others want just to create a new colour combination. Besides wanting all that too, I’ve always wanted to draw my sneakers in my own style – to make my own interpretation. I have had this project in mind for years. I want to add more pairs and make a proper space ship sneakers collection."
We say keep them comin' Ghica!
