As part of this year's New York Fashion Week, designer Alexander Wang held a runway show to showcase his Spring 2015 looks to the who's who of fashion. The collection was filled with sneaker iconography re-appropriated by AW's unique touch of flair for fusing together street and high fashion. Alexander Wang has been a well-known sneakerhead, with his role as creative director at Balenciaga undoubtedly influencing the luxury brand's focus on designer sneakers in recent years. For this new range, he has taken a number of iconic visual cues, such as the Jordan elephant print, Nike Flyknit and Woven construction, adidas Stan Smith perforated stripes, Nike Air and signature colourways, and remixed them into a collection of clothing, shoes and accessories. I understand these were not designed for people like Sneaker Freaker readers in mind, but what do you guys think of Alexander Wang's take on our culture? If anything, this is a sign of the times that sneakers have again been embraced by the world of high fashion, for better or worse. Let's just ride this wave and see how it pans out I guess, let's just hope to God that Jordan heels don't actually become a thing...
