Alasdhair Willis is the New Chief Creative Officer of adidas

Alasdhair Willis adidas Chief Creative Officer

German sportswear giant adidas have appointed Alasdhair Willis as their new chief creative officer. He will oversee the brand’s creative direction across its main three categories of Performance, Originals and Sportswear ‘to deliver a unified brand experience’.

This is not Willis’ first rodeo with the Three Stripes: his involvement with the brand goes back to 2005, whereby he helped launch the adidas by Stella McCartney (to whom he is married) collaborative line, and has been closely linked to the project since.

He appears well equipped for the job, having most recently served as creative director of British wellington boot brand Hunter, turning it from a tiny mono brand to an international fashion name. His understanding of creativity beyond footwear is also proven by his co-founding of design publication Wallpaper* Magazine.

Stepping into a permanent role at adidas and evolving our partnership is a great privilege and feels like an incredibly exciting and natural next step,’ said Willis. ‘The power and influence of the brand on sport, sports culture, and beyond is immeasurable. I welcome the opportunity to help establish a new era of design and brand leadership at adidas and, together with the team, take adidas to even higher levels.’

Willis begins his new role from April.
