Update April 11, 2022: The Nike Air Trainer 1 SP 'Honeydew' touches down this week and we've created a Where to Buy guide to help you cop. April 14 is the drop date, so head down below to find a stockist near you!

Sneaker anniversaries are a big thing, not only for us sneakerheads but for brands as well! The Nike camp are celebrating plenty of milestones this year, including the Air Trainer 1 which released in 1987 and turned 35 in 2022. Originally designed by Tinker Hatfield as a cross trainer, it rose to prominence through athletes like Bo Jackson and John McEnroe. Later it gained some street cred when it became a go-to choice for rappers and a collectible shoe for us sneakerheads. For the anniversary, Team Swoosh have blessed their decades-old silhouette with a brand new look adding SP (Special Project) to the end of the name to reflect the changes.

The next colourway to release of this specialised Air Trainer 1 ‘Honeydew’ which started circling the internet at the beginning of January. The panelling has been modernised, utilising leather and technical fabrics throughout. The colour scheme reminds us of a robot with the buckle strap adding to the aesthetic. It should be noted that the original Air Trainer 1 featured a velcro strap. Our favourite detail is the reflective touches that have been scattered across the upper and surrounding the Swoosh.

Plenty of sneakerheads have been patiently awaiting the release of the Air Trainer 1 SP ‘Honeydew’ and we’re happy to announce that it’s now been given a green light to hit shelves. You can cop this bad boy from the below retailers and SNKRS on April 14.
