Internet whispers indicate that the Air Jordan 4 ‘Thunder’ might be coming back once again. It last clapped in 2012; before that was its initial drop in 2006. While the reasons for its potential reissue might seem arbitrary, sneakerheads undoubtedly won’t be complaining about it.

Let’s turn the calendars back to 2006. Jordan Brand decided to dabble with releasing a limited edition AJ4 pack exclusively online – ubiquitous today but rather uncommon back then. Fans had to jump through various hurdles, including middling download speeds, Team Jordan membership and an excuse to drop all responsibilities on a Wednesday afternoon to attempt copping these coveted ‘Lightning’ and ‘Thunder’ pairs. A few years later, in 2012, the ‘Thunder’ struck again at retailers with considerably less technical difficulty and higher quantities – but it was a sell-out release regardless.

As the AJ4 experiences another slow renaissance in the modern era, the rumours of the black and yellow colourway’s return should pique the curiosity of anyone who missed out previously or those looking to get into the model. Per rumours originating from @zsneakerheadz, the ‘Thunder’ is slated for a 2023 re-release. Don’t whip out those credit cards just yet – no confirmed images of the new edition are available, but expect them to look like the last retro pictured above.
