Update February 11, 2022: Following leaked imagery of the upcoming Air Jordan 4 'Canvas' that surfaced earlier in the month, Jordan Brand has just come through confirming the iteration! Official imagery has touched down, hinting that a release could be soon. We'll keep you updated.

Jordan Brand have a new enticing Air Jordan 4 landing later this year that’s a little different to past releases. Simply nicknamed ‘Canvas’ because of its namesake material, this simple edition proves the old adage that ‘less is more’.

Via sneaker leaker Chris Colgan, here’s an early look at the 4s ahead of official imagery and drop details. As its nickname suggests, the entirety of the upper is covered in canvas, except for the plastic lace tips at either end of the instep. Even the lace ‘wings’ and heel tabs are textile – however, the most intriguing component of this canvas takeover is the fact that it even wraps the foam midsole. The last time this treatment was applied to the AJ4 was the Levi’s collaboration a few years ago. The entire upper and midsole is shaded in ‘Sail’, a classic Nike shade that adds a slightly aged feel.

Ahead of JB’s official storytelling, it seems this colourway does lean into the idea of an artist’s canvas via the fake paint splodges on the outsole, which is somewhat more playful than usual for an adult’s Jordan release. More specifically, these will be in women’s sizing, so men wishing to wear these may have to get creative.
