The Air Jordan 3 ‘Neapolitan' is Full of Flavour

Ice cream-inspired sneakers are not a new concept – there was an entire shoe line named after the sweet treat – but it seems that in 2022 people still have a sweet foot for them. Here’s an early look at an upcoming women’s Air Jordan 3 that’s appropriately nicknamed the ‘Neapolitan’.

Neapolitan ice cream is believed to have originated from the Italian city of Naples, and was actually first a combination of pistachio, vanilla and cherry flavours to replicate the tricolore of the country’s flag. However, its introduction into America resulted in the more palatable Western tastes of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.

And it’s this combination that informs this AJ3 colourway, which uses the standard white tumbled leather base for the upper, before adding its iconic ‘elephant’ print on the toe and heel. The ice cream connection is made clear via the midsole, which sees creamy white met with a light pink accent, all sat atop brown rubber outsoles. There’s a touch more pink on the outsole pods, and the Jordan text branding that’s finished in the red? The cherry on top (or bottom, rather).
