The Air Jordan 23 Returns for the Year of the Rabbit 2023
Jordan Brand are surprising sneakerheads with the unexpected return of the Air Jordan 23 as part of the upcoming Year of the Rabbit collection in early 2023. The pinnacle Jordan signature model of 2008 has only been seen sporadically in the years since its debut, but it looks like it might return in a big way.
The original AJ23 was distinctive because of the intricate stitching on its leather upper. This YOTR edition does bring the detail via the sewing needle, but its pattern is noticeably different to the OG and other limited releases. Unlike the symmetrical arrangements of those versions, this pair’s stitching is much more organic and flowing, akin to a topographical map. It’s a detail that gets more complex the closer it’s observed, as the upper itself is fairly muted in pale green-silver.
The remainder of the AJ23 is fairly true to spec, with the huge carbon fibre sole shank peeking out of the transparent midfoot, plus the crystalline midsole shell. Even the stitched heel flap returns. Rounding out the Lunar New Year theme is the rabbit motif behind the tongue, as well as a special shoebox.
Expect to see the Air Jordan 23 ‘Year of the Rabbit’ in coming weeks at Nike retailers.
