Jordan Brand’s Holiday 2021 collection was absolutely stacked, especially in the Air Jordan 1 department! There were a bunch of debut colourways touching down such as the ‘Hand Crafted’ and ‘Bordeaux’, but the most intriguing was the ‘Patent Bred’. Obviously inspired by the OG of OGs, it utilises the same colour-blocking, however swaps out the usual materials for patent leather. Some could argue that they aren’t as desirable this way, while others may welcome the change with an open wallet.
The original AJ1 ‘Bred’ was worn by Michael Jordan himself way back in 1985 and debuted the same year. The updated ‘Patent Bred’ sticks mostly true to the 85 iteration in terms of colour-blocking. Black has been laid down as the base layer with red coming through on the rear, toe box, Swoosh and outsole with contrasting white midsole. Tumbled leather is the usual choice however has been switched out for shiny patent.
