The Air Jordan 1 Mid Doesn’t Miss a Beat in Black and White
Given the occasionally defamatory remarks made within segments of the sneaker community about the Air Jordan 1 Mid, simple colourways such as black and white may help stop the diatribe against it. It almost seems surprising that it’s taken this long for Jordan Brand to release this particular combination, but stranger things have happened.
Gallons of digital ink have been spilt writing about the Air Jordan 1, so anyone should be able to recite its straightforward story. The Mid is something of a takedown version of the High (both literally and figuratively) that’s available pretty much everywhere, all the time, and in just about every colour – at least until the bots cop them.
The fact that the AJ1 is available in such a simple colourway perhaps is a tacit acknowledgement that the model (at least in Mid form) is no longer marketed as a historical model but rather a democratic shoe that transcends all contexts. Who the hell is Michael Jordan? It’s just a clean black and white shoe – perhaps it doesn’t matter who the Jumpman on the tongue represents. Black leather uppers, nylon tongues and contrast white elements is all that needs to be said here.
