Another Grail 1985 Air Jordan 1 High 85 is Coming
Jordan Brand are known to heavily reference their rich history, paying homage to the 80s and 90s when Michael Jordan's signature line was in its formative years. Lately, they’ve gone back to 1985 where it all started, resurrecting OG Air Jordan 1 colourways which haven’t seen the light of day in decades. Back in 2020, the mythical ‘Neutral Grey’ was given a retro for the first time since its debut in 85 and in 2021 the grail ‘Georgetown Hoyas’ PE returned. The icing on the cake for Jordan fiends has been that these OG colourways have been welcomed back via the Air Jordan 1 High 85 silhouette, supposedly more accurately reflecting the specs of the original worn on-court by Jordan himself!
Fresh off the back of ‘Chicago’ rumours, the next big retro has been circling the internet, with plenty of sources hinting a return of the black/white colourway. Originally touching down in 1985, the black/white colourway has released a number of times. In 2008 it was part of the ‘Countdown Pack’ with Jumpman tongue logo and later in 2014 touched down again. The latest is allegedly also using the High 85 silhouette and will come correct in its OG look which means white leather underlays and midsole with black leather overlays, a Wings lateral logo and Nike tongue tag.
Interestingly, according to the rumours about the upcoming ‘Chicago’ release, all the Air Jordan 1 High 85 silhouettes will now feature an even more improved shape to better replicate the OG, mainly the toe box. While images of the black/white retro are yet to surface, we’ve included some pics of the OG so you know what to expect.
Currently, the news on this megalithic retro is all just speculation. An exact release date is up in the air at this point however we hear they could potentially be arriving for the Northern Hemisphere’s spring 2023. Stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates!
