Update February 17, 2022: Nike have now released official imagery of the Air Jordan 1 Element GORE-TEX in 'Light Curry', however no release date has been confirmed as of yet.
Some Air Jordan 1 experiments are more functional than others. One practical update to the model that Jordan Brand recently introduced is the Element GORE-TEX version, which appears to be returning for the next cold season in new colours. According to this leak, one such example is the tastefully coloured ‘Light Curry’.
The Air Jordan 1 has traditionally been a pretty good wet weather shoe due to its leather upper, but its continued hype and high secondary market prices has left some sneakerheads reluctant to pull them out. Enter the Air Jordan 1 Element GORE-TEX, which adds various treatments to repel crappy conditions and is an appropriate alternative. One of these is GORE-TEX, the waterproof yet breathable membrane that is the ultimate barrier against the wet. Beyond that, there’s also sealed ripstop inserts on the mid panel and toe box to stop any liquid seeping in. The leather overlays have been treated with DWR for that desirable beading effect.
Sneaker leaker @brandon1an reveals this ‘Light Curry’ colourway with its seasonal palette of tan and off-white uppers, meeting a rubber sole with ice effect on the heel portion – perhaps to add extra grip. Expect to see these later this year.
