Update April 8, 2022: Following the swathe of leaked imagery and the on-foot look, Jordan Brand have released official pics of the women's Air Jordan 1 'Denim'! It shows off all its enticing details such as lace charms, custom frayed denim overlays and hang tag. No release details have surfaced but some sources are alleging the'll hit shelves in September.
Update February 24, 2022: Another batch of images have come through from @woganwodeyang, revealing that these upcoming denim Air Jordan 1s may come with a dual set of laces, which includes a white pair as well as a red pair. Topping it all off is the matching denim Nike Air swing tag. The Swoosh are still yet to confirm these AJ1s, but keep it locked to SF for all updates.
There is unlikely going to be a shortage of Air Jordan 1 releases any time soon, as leaked images have surfaced of a new colourway that’s going to come later this year. Nicknamed the ‘Denim’, its namesake material replaces the usual makeup of the iconic basketball shoe.
While the original AJ1 was made completely in leather, this edition replaces the main overlays with the namesake material. The particular type of denim is a slightly washed blue variety and covers the toe bumper, eye stays, ankle flap, Swoosh, and tongue. Adding to the obvious material swap is the contrasting white leather on the toe box, mid panel and ankle collar.
Beyond denim fabric, there are some other interesting details such as the reinforced embroidered eyelets, frayed edges, woven Nike Air branding, and golden oversized dubrae – presumably resembling a gaudy belt buckle.
This set of pictures comes via @sneakerknockerzllc, who also suggest that the overall theme is inspired by the infamously ill-fitting denim outfits that Michael Jordan is known to wear. It’s also believed that this release will only be available in women’s sizing.
Keep an eye out for more on the Air Jordan 1 ‘Denim’ to arrive later this year.
