Update March 23, 2022: More images of the third Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 collection has surfaced! Get a closer look above and stay tuned for an exact release date.

Aimé Leon Dore has played a huge role in the revival of the New Balance 550 – a throwback basketball shoe from the late 1980s that's risen from obscurity to become one of New Balance's most successful lifestyle silhouettes – and after releasing sets of 550s in 2020 and 2021 they're back with a third capsule for 2022.

Revealed via a single image on the Aimé Leon Dore Instagram and set to release as a part of the brand's SS22 collection, the trifecta of styles are accented with either deep purple, earthy brown or military-style olive, and offer the signature ALD contrast of a crisp white leather upper with an 'aged' midsole for retro hoops style. The left shoe swaps out standard NB heel branding for an ALD hit, and each pair also appears to feature co-branded tongues.

It's shaping up to be an eventful year for Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance: besides this set of 550s, the partners will also be releasing their highly-anticipated 650, the 550's high-top cousin, in 2022. ALD founder Teddy Santis has also been working directly with New Balance, serving as the creative director of the brand's MADE in USA line.

This set of 550s has yet to receive an official release date, but as can be seen in the Instagram post above, interested parties can subscribe to the Aimé Leon Dore mailing list for more info. Past colabs have featured an MSRP of $130.
