This Green adidas ZX 8000 is Reminiscent of a Classic Colab

Official images have emerged of an upcoming adidas ZX 8000 in a nice shade of green, which is apparently inspired by tea. This seems like a perfectly plausible product story but, for some long-time sneakerheads, visions of this new colourway may have unlocked a mid-2000s memory.

Remember the original aZ-X collection from circa 2008? Canadian boutique Goodfoot (long gone but far from forgotten) got their hands on a ZX 8000 that was predominately green with grey. Another defining detail of their collaboration was the use of recycled materials, parallel to the adidas Grun program from that era. The textile swap also saw a different type of mesh used on the toe box, making for a memorable colourway that remains coveted among ardent adi collectors.

So, going back to 2021, this new release certainly looks like its borrowed more than a few cues from that original Goodfoot colab. If anything, this pair effectively has inverted the colour-blocking, while keeping the same mesh on the toe box as a rather on-the-nose reference. Elsewhere, mint green laces and pastel yellow accents nod back to the tea inspiration, which supposedly is the verbatim product story.

Keep an eye out for these ZX 8000s to land in the coming months. Shout out Goodfoot.
