The runaway success of the adidas revitalised the German brand's running division, striking a chord with sneakerheads that gravitated to its minimalist design and ultra-lightweight construction. The second model in the range is the brand new UltraBOOST Uncaged, inspired by customisers who removed the Ultra Boost's support cage to create an even more streamlined silhouette. Unlike the previous  and ‘Uncaged’ releases that were essentially the original Ultra Boost without the cage, the UltraBOOST Uncaged has a brand new Primeknit upper design that incorporates a number of unique departures away from the initial construction. To take a closer look at the upcoming release, we compared the UltraBOOST Uncaged to the Solebox and Hypebeast versions and highlighted the new updates.

The Ultraboost Uncaged utilises a brand new Primeknit pattern that creates a disruptive gradient pattern, similar to the Primeknit used on the from earlier in 2016. This is a big departure to the Primeknit design that mimics traditional upper paneling featured on the previous Ultra Boost. The new model adopts an internal midfoot skeleton to give the shoe enough support in the upper in the absence of the outer cage.

The biggest difference is the new adaptive knit collar that gives the UltraBOOST Uncaged its streamlined silhouette. The result is a flexible collar that provides added breathability.

Without the branded collar from the first design, the only visible branding on the new UltraBOOST Uncaged upper is the Three Stripes welded overlay on medial side of the toebox.

The new multi-tiered lacing system allows runners to customise the midfoot fit and overall finish of the sneaker.

The updated laces reflect the new design of the Primeknit upper, whereas the Solebox and Hypebeast design uses traditional single-coloured flat laces.

While the upper has changed drastically, the new Uncaged model retains the original Boost sole unit design, right down to the Continental outsole pattern and visible Torsion system.

The result of all these updates is a completely different silhouette – especially when worn side-by-side!

The adidas UltraBOOST Uncaged will be released on June 29 at select adidas Running accounts.
