adidas Take J. Crew To Court Over Stripe Claim
don’t think have earned their stripes, and they’re taking them to court over it. According to , adidas has filed a trademark challenge that claims J. Crew’s multi-stripe logo is too similar to the Three Stripes.
Specifically, adidas think J. Crew’s ‘stripe design with five parallel bands of colour in the following order: burgundy, ivory, navy blue, ivory, burgundy,’ could be seen to ‘originate from the same source,’ or are ‘affiliated, connected, or associated’ with adidas.
While it seems a reach, blurred lines in trademark law have caused adidas to go to court for less, with everyone from Marc Jacobs to Elon Musk (and, of course, Forever 21) getting into skirmishes with adidas in the past. Whether this new case will be fruitful, we’ll keep you posted.
