adidas Debut their Innovative Concept: The FUTURECRAFT.STRUNG
There have been plenty of futuristic innovations over the years, as brands battle it out with their latest crazy tech to improve flexibility, comfort and sustainability. While adidas have already been at the forefront thanks to their 4D-printed soles, they’ve just stepped it up a notch with the unique FUTURECRAFT.STRUNG.
Team Trefoil have been working overtime in their lab to produce this industry-first innovation, striving to obtain the optimum performance level for their footwear, while also optimising the materials in use. The outcome is a model that boasts a string-like profile. The highlight of the FUTURECRAFT.STRUNG is that they’re able to input data from athletes into a computer, and will then be able to trial models in their software before sending the design to the STRUNG robot for construction. Every thread is well thought-out, and can customise the smallest detail, catering to the specific needs of each athlete.
The adidas FUTURECRAFT.STRUNG is a game-changer in the footwear industry, and has the exciting potential to shift how athletes work with designers. They’ll be able to adjust their performance silhouettes based on their changing needs. Unfortunately, the shoes will not be made available commercially, as Team Trefoil will continue with the development stage throughout 2021, and we’ll most likely see a release in early 2022.
