Sneaker Artist Adam Port Exhibits ‘Art of the Sole’ at Art Basel 2022
Adam Port’s photorealistic paintings and love for sneakers have opened doors for the New York artist. Following his charitable link-up with last year, Port has just exhibited a range of shoe portraits at Art Basel 2022 in Miami.
These sneaker paintings, part of Port’s ‘Art of the Sole’ series, depict classic designs, like the Air Jordan 1 and adidas Superstar, replicated in painstaking photorealistic detail. In collaboration with eBay and Collectable, the artist displayed his works at the SCOPE International Contemporary Art Show.
Art lovers, sneakerheads and Miami visitors marvelled at Port’s paintings, with The Shoe Surgeon being one notable patron.
‘My intention is to create a series of paintings that explore Sneaker Culture. Each object-portrait embodies a compelling history that invites observers to recall their own connection to featured sneakers. May that be nostalgia, status, fashion, function or icon emulation, the viewer can examine the significance and impact of sneakers through their own personal lens and experiences,’ says Port about his ‘Art of the Sole’ series.
