While there will always be a place for the humble 99-year-old All Star, the team at Converse introduced the new Chuck II for the discerning sneakerhead who wants something more comfortable to support their increasingly busy lifestyle. Featuring a Lunarlon sole unit and a number of new improvements packaged in the iconic Chuck silhouette we all love, the Chuck II has quickly become a favourite among the SF staff and extended family – we even put it in our !

To celebrate the release of the new , we’ve enlisted some crew who are always on their feet to spend a week wearing the new Chucks, and give us some feedback on how the updated OG feels on duty.

After checking in with , we head to Perth’s Cabinet Noir, a top-tier boutique that serves up the best in apparel and sneakers from around the world. Keeping everything afloat is store manager Chloe Davies, constantly running around to make sure it all comes together perfectly for the best shopping experience…

I am not a morning person at the best of times. From hitting snooze on five different alarms to taking two hours to string a single sentence together, my footwear choice is a crucial part of my morning ritual – or lack thereof!

The short walk from the bus stop to Cabinet Noir is brisk, and always followed by a double-shot latté to get me started. After only a day of wear, the Chucks felt super lightweight, something myself and anyone who is on their feet all day looks for in a shoe.

When I get to work I begin with cleaning, setting daily targets and visual merchandising. My working weekdays consist of roles that require a lot of running around. Even in-store on a busy day, I’m on my feet non-stop running up and down stairs to our office countless times with stock. With the new elastic no-slip tongue, I can ensure my foot is secure while I power-walk around the shop in a rush! I want my feet to be supported, and the Chuck II has just the right amount of support around the ankle and tongue because of the memory foam padding. Plus, the Lunarlon sole provides such great cushioning, making a big difference after spending all this time on my feet.

The Chuck II has definitely come through with the assist on making the time-consuming process of running the shop way more bearable this week. I cannot stress enough about the comfort of the new Chucks! Details are everything, and being a perfectionist means you look at everything in a much finer aspect. There is significant change in the new Chuck II even if it isn’t instantly noticeable, which make these a great addition to the Converse family and to my regular rotation.

The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II Knit Collection is available now at Converse stockists and online at Converse.com.au.
