A STAPLE x Crocs Collaboration Set to Take Flight
Nothing says New York City like the ubiquitous pigeon. Roaming the sidewalks since time immemorial, of course paid homage to the humble bird with the SB Dunk Low in 2005, triggering one of the most chaotic sneaker launches of all time. Now existing in sneakerhead folklore, Staple’s pigeon design has continued to soar across the streetwear landscape ever since – the upcoming collaboration involving another powerhouse of the footwear industry:
Loaded with subterranean NYC iconography, it looks as though the colab has been pulled from the very entrails of The Big Apple. Dubbed the STAPLE x Crocs Sidewalk Luxe Classic Clog, the design certainly pulls no punches when it comes to bold vernacular. Encompassing the gritty realism of NYC (forget the postcards), the pairs have picked up all kinds of goodies in its inner-city sojourn, including an oversized pigeon foot, a piece of chewing gum, a coffee cup, Jeff Staple’s signature pigeon, a rat, and a cockroach – all coming in the form of unique interchangeable Jibbitz™ charms!
Befitting of the proverb ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’, the collaboration nods to the hardworking stalwart of the streets, the much-maligned, derided and proud anti-hero: the New York City pigeon.
