A Teen from New Zealand is Saving Your Old Sneakers

Recycle

At just 13-years-old, Maia Mariner has already made a splash in her hometown of Wellington, New Zealand. Forming a project she dubs Lazy Sneakers, she collects, cleans and redistributes sneakers for the broader NZ community.

Lazy Sneakers donates shoes to young athletes or local goodwill centres. The young philanthropist is already building a following by creating t-shirts and curating photoshoots for label.

A breath of fresh air in the current throw-away culture of the 21st century.
