A Closer Look at New Balance’s Face Mask Manufacturing Process

have shared the process behind their valiant efforts to manufacture face masks for the hospital community, in light of 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic. As reported by Business Insider, NB’s domestic factories in Lawrence, Massachusetts and Norridgewock, Maine, are aiming to produce 100,000 masks each week.

The factories have diverted some production lines and equipment to create the masks from readily available materials with modern processes. It’s no surprise the designs and materials resemble current NB products, such as welded mesh panels and elastic lace straps. According to the brand, each mask will take less than a minute on the production and labour line.

NB are also working on developing other personal protective equipment (PPE), with potential use of their 3D-printing technologies.
