Jordan Brand Celebrate 35 Years of Do The Right Thing With Limited Spiz'ike and Pop-Up
There are a few that have become synonymous with sneaker culture, but most sneakerheads will consider 1989 classic, Do The Right Thing as being one of the best. Packed full of sneaker heat, have released pairs inspired by the movie in the past, including the limited-edition Air Jordan 4 ‘Bugging Out’ from 2017. Running even deeper than just surface-level cameos, it wasn’t long before Spike Lee and connected, with Lee going on to produce some seriously memorable Jordan ads, and even getting his own shoe in 2006. A fusion of both Spike and Mike’s name, and a carefully concocted blend of Jordans later and the was born – and now things are coming full circle for a special release that celebrates the movie’s legacy.
With the 35th anniversary of the film taking place, the Jordan Spiz’ike Low pays homage to both the original Spiz’ike launch colourway and Do The Right Thing via a series of thoughtful details. The pair arrives with a white base with red and green accents, the former dressing the wing tips and outsoles, and the latter the lace toggles and heel pull tabs. A DTRT 35 tab is attached to the netting, and the movie’s release year hits the dubraes. Pairs are also individually numbered, but with only 100 available, they'll mostly be limited to friends and family.
Whether the special-edition sneaker will make it to shelves or not, there’s plenty planned for the launch party. Jordan Brand will be hosting a special anniversary celebration in Brooklyn on June 29 which will feature a pop-up shop, customisation opportunities as well as food and drink. The event will take place at 69 Lafayette Avenue from 10-8pm, so head down if you’re wanting to celebrate some sneaker history!
