The Classics, Going Psycho Over Dunks, and Securing Travis' Latest
So far, 2020 has been a bit of a feeding frenzy, with a raft of crazy releases – both hype and GR. Could this year be crazier than the last? In February, the month just gone, we had people going psycho over Dunks, New Balance bringing back the classics, and colabs that were both Lazy and Litty.
Of course, this constant flow of crazy releases means the sneakersphere won't be slowing down anytime soon. With rumours flying around about the return of Grails, and King Travis set to continue his current reign, March is sure to be just as chaotic.
But we've decided to hit the pause button, slow down time for just a moment, and show you what you may have missed in February, as well as what's to come in March.
Bringing Back the Classics
New Balance have been reaching into the past and pulling out some of their craziest silhouettes, bringing them back from the dead. Of course, the one we were most excited about was the continuation of the 1300 five-year retro cycle. The New Balance M1300JP3 dropped on February 22, signifying just the third time the silhouette has been available outside of Japan. NB heads went nuts, with some even scrounging up the cash to double up.
The other massive news that New Balance decided to drop on us was that they were bringing back the 992. After waiting 14 years, we finally received the revered silhouette that celebrated the company’s 100th anniversary in 2006. Did you cop your pair?
Lazy or Litty?
Collaborations continue to be a big part of the sneaker industry, with some starting new trends and birthing new ways to look at footwear. However, February saw a trend of collaborations that seemed to be more lazy than litty. The main example was the Supreme Air Force 1, with a small box logo slapped on the side before they decided to call it a day. Do you think the Supreme x Air Force 1 was lazy or litty?
Psycho Over Dunks
Whether old or new, it seems as though people are going absolutely insane over Dunks. We've had the StrangeLoves that penetrated the zeitgeist and caused quite the stir. And the Dunk Low 'Plum' actually started February's Dunk craze. Then, the last straw was Travis Scott's Dunks that shook the sneakersphere to its core.
What’s Going Round the Rumour Mill?
The rumour mill is always rife, as whispers spread through the industry on the regular. The latest to surface is that the 'Carmine' Air Jordan 6s will be making a return. This could be a massive one for Jordan heads, especially if it has that 'Nike Air' on the back.
What to Expect next Month
February was insane, and our wallets are extremely light in the aftermath, but they’re about to get even lighter. March has arrived, and we're looking forward to a month of certified heat. We're excited for Nike to continue celebrating the Air Max 90's 30th birthday, especially if the rumblings within the industry about the DQM 90 come true.
