The Classic adidas Sneakers You Need in Your 2022 Rotation
In the vast, ever-changing sneaker ecosystem, there’s always classic models you can rely on. Team Trefoil contains a vault of important staples every sneakerhead needs in their rotation. From the heavy-hitting Stan Smith to the Superstar, these sneakers are still certified buckets in 2022. Check out the selection below!
A hardwood classic, the adidas Superstar stepped off the basketball courts to become a staple in streetwear and hip hop culture. One of the most recognisable silhouettes in adi’s prodigious catalogue, the iconic shell-toe design inspires fierce loyalty across the globe.
Debuting in the NBA during the late 1960s, the model was the first low-top style to make its debut in performance basketball. By the mid-1970s, 75 per cent of the NBA were lacing Superstars.
It's taken a giant leap forward in recent years thanks to its more environmentally friendly design DNA. Overhauling the classic silhouette, the Superstar has joined adi’s collaborative collection with Parley Ocean Plastic, the shoe manufactured with plastic that’s been intercepted before it reaches the ocean. Featuring an upper made with at least 50 per cent recycled content, the Superstar is now a slam dunk in ethical style and substance.
adidas Stan Smith
Ready to serve aces in the style department? Named after the legendary tennis player, Stan Smith, the indelible model has been a permanent fixture in sneakerheads' wardrobes for over four decades.
The latest Stan Smith Parley steps forward in a more eco-conscious manner, the model overhauled to incorporate at least 50 per cent recycled content. The drop-in soles are also made with 20 per cent Boost from production waste and 80 per cent virgin Boost.
Disney’s prince of the forest is also paying a visit to the Stan Smith, the colourway replete with deer detailing on the tongues and heel tabs, and a picture of Bambi is also printed on the insoles. This fawn-infused Stan Smith is another ace for Team Trefoil.
X marks the spot!
From the Beastie Boys to Keith Haring, the adidas Forum has been laced by many cultural game-changers across its near 40-year tenure. The silhouette has enjoyed a startling resurgence in recent years, with top-tier collaborations thrusting the model back onto centre court.
Central to adi’s Parley for the Oceans project, the 2022 model is constructed in recycled synthetic leather made with 54 per cent recycled PES and 46 per cent PU. Of course, all the superlative design DNA of the 1980s design is still present, including signature ankle strap and X-detail.
Everyone needs a good pair of Adilette Slides. Hitting the market in 1972, the Adilette Slides debuted as a shower slide for the German national football team. Since then, they have become Team Trefoil’s most popular slides – notable features including the contoured footbed and 3-Stripes across the bandage – all of which make these MVP status the world over.
Disney is the latest collaborator to slip into the slides, the debossed floral design inspired by Bambi’s forest home.
