The Best Air Jordan Sneakers of 2021 (So Far)
The Best Air Jordan Sneakers of 2021 (So Far) is presented by eBay.
Let’s face it. No one’s ever going to jump the Jumpman (sorry Kanye). Flights may be grounded across the globe, but that hasn’t stopped the Jordan Brand from soaring to the summit of the sneaker game thanks to a slew of sought-after collaborations, as well as some ultra-wearable GR colourways.
Legends never die. Here are the best Air Jordan sneaker releases so far in 2021. But don’t worry if you missed the original drop dates, because you can still shop them with confidence today on eBay.
Union x Air Jordan 4 ‘Tent and Trail’
Union LA once again collaborated with Jordan Brand, joining forces to celebrate the boutique’s 30th anniversary. Another project featuring two colourways of their signature, reworked Air Jordan 4, the ‘Tent and Trail’ is inspired by the 80s and 90s outdoor garb. Not sure many would be game enough to hit the Great Outdoors in ’em, though!
Air Jordan 1 ‘University Blue’
Following an extended build-up, the release of the Air Jordan 1 ‘University Blue’ once again proved that MJ’s first signature is still a hot commodity among casual sneakerheads and hypefiends alike. It may have technically been a GR drop, but that didn’t stop it from selling out in quick time. It’s easy to see why. Classic colours on a classic silhouette – you can’t go wrong with that!
Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1
When you’re the son of the GOAT, there’s a lot of pressure to deliver one of the best Air Jordan 1s of the year, but that’s exactly what Marcus Jordan and Trophy Room did! One of the most coveted – and controversial – Jordan Brand releases in recent memory, the colourway pays homage to the classic ‘Chicago’ scheme, with more than a few nods to Michael Jordan’s legendary past.
A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 3
A Ma Maniére partnered with Jordan Brand to deliver an Air Jordan 3 collaboration as part of their ‘Raised By Women’ campaign. The Atlanta-based boutique gave the fan-favourite Jay a luxurious makeover, opting for a simple white leather base. Come year’s end, we expect this to still be one of the cleanest drops of 2021.
Air Jordan 1 ‘Shadow 2.0’
Does this Air Jordan 1 colourway look (and sound) familiar? Well, that’s because it kind of is! Looking to the past, Jordan Brand flipped the fan-favourite ‘Shadow’ colour combo, tweaking and inverting the colours and materials. Moving away from the full-leather construction, this GR gem comes through with a neat leather/suede combination. This is definitely a ‘2.0’ colourway that does justice to the OG!
Travis Scott x Air Jordan 6 ‘British Khaki’
Travis Scott and the freewheeling JACKBOYS continue to pulverise the sneaker industry in 2021, earth’s preeminent collaborator recently linking up with the likes of Fragment for the Air Jordan 1 and Sony PlayStation for a hyper exclusive Friends and Family design.
Still, it’s the Air Jordan 6 ‘British Khaki’ which truly had us raging this year.
Already igniting superhuman hype with his Air Jordan 6 release last year, the ‘British Khaki’ colourway extends the rowdy aesthetic La Flame’s known for, the signature stash pocket again emblazoned on the collar. Manufactured with nubuck and suede uppers, the Air Jordan 6 was also doing damage down below, the glow-in-the-dark translucent outsoles now an indelible part of Travis Scott’s design DNA.
The best way to rage against the dying of the light? Glow-in-the-dark outsoles!
Air Jordan 6 ‘Carmine’
A legendary sneaker from the Jumpman hangar, the Air Jordan 6 ‘Carmine’ returned to much fanfare in 2021.
Despite now being two decades old, the AJ6 is forever young, originally appearing during Michael Jordan’s 1991-92 season.
Emblazoning the feet of His Airness with classic Chicago Bull hues of black and red, the latest iteration features signature ‘Nike Air’ logos on the heel while, down below, we’ve got some of the coldest ice outsoles we’ve seen in a hot minute.
The perfect accompaniment to the swelling hype around Space Jam: A New Legacy, the Air Jordan 6 ‘Carmine’ is arguably the best retro we’ve seen all year.
Aleali May x Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT ‘Califia’
LA designer and Jumpman Queen Aleali May continued her hot streak in 2021, with the Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT ‘Califia’ drawing energy from May’s high school drill team.
May’s fourth Jordan Brand sneaker, the collaboration pays homage to the classic American varsity jacket, the chenille details adding a well-executed nostalgic edge. Accompanying May’s first-ever apparel collection with Jordan Brand, the sneaker is manufactured in an eye-catching mix of green, blue and white, while the collaboration is given further personal branding with an ‘A’ emblem on the tongue, and May’s signature on the left heel.
One of the best Air Jordan 1s we’ve seen in recent times, the Aleali May x Air Jordan 1 certainly reinforced May’s credentials as one of the strongest collaborators in the game.
