It’s clear to see that the sneaker world is thirsting for nostalgia right now, arguably more than ever before. The humble is currently reigning over the sneakersphere, while the still remains one of the most sought-after commodities in the game. On top of that, other brands are digging back into their archives to uncover old favourites from the past – the providing a prime example.

With all the great retro releases taking place, it’s easy to forget that there’s still also plenty of new silhouettes hitting the market.

It’s time to look to the future, sneakerheads. Here are the best new sneaker models to look out for in 2021.

New Balance 920

Unveiled halfway through 2020, the 920 is one of New Balance’s most exciting new silhouettes. Blessed with a distinct throwback aesthetic, the model certainly appeals to both new and old heads alike, with a sporty, mesh and suede upper.

NB were quick out of the box with collaborations too, announcing a just weeks after the silhouette’s debut. Without a doubt, there’s plenty more on the way.

Nike GO FlyEase

As Nike’s first ever hands-free sneaker, the GO FlyEase has managed to transcend the sneakersphere, making headlines across the globe.

Constructed with a bi-stable hinge that enables the sneaker to be secure in fully open and fully closed states, it can be kicked on or off with ease.

It’s without a doubt the most exciting and intriguing release in the FlyEase range to date. Will there be any high-profile colabs? Well have to wait and see.

adidas Adizero Adios Pro

After years of dominating the long-distance game, Team Trefoil now have a contender to rival the ground-breaking running lineup. The Adizero Adios Pro was developed with assistance from world-record-holding runner Rhonex Kipruto, introducing carbon fibre to the adidas running lineup.

Of course, they didn’t just stop there. There’s also five carbon-infused EnergyRods that sit beneath the metatarsals, sandwiched between thick layers of Lightstrike PRO – the brand’s lightest foam to date. Fast AF!

ASICS GEL-GLIDELYTE III

Long-time collaborative partner Kiko Kostadinov recently worked with ASICS to create a special-edition hybrid dubbed the GEL-GLIDELYTE III. Inspired by a visit to the ASICS archive in Kobe, Kiko conceptualised a mix of the GEL-Lyte III and the GLIDERIDE running silhouette.

The final result was a stunning new silhouette that combines the best of ASICS’ lifestyle and performance aesthetics. A bit of nostalgia in a brand new package!

Nike Cosmic Unity

A hero for Nike’s Move To Zero initiative in 2021, the Cosmic Unity is unlike any other performance basketball sneaker ever created by Team Swoosh.

Manufactured with at least 25 per cent recycled content by weight, the silhouette features a full-length Zoom Air Strobel unit and patented Crater Foam. Extending the sustainable ethos of Nike’s Space Hippie range, the familiar grey/blue/orange launch colourway also recalls the initial colourway options for the Space Hippie program.

Launch is imminent, and we can’t wait for more colourways of the out-of-this-world baller.
