Sneaker Recap: Pride Month 2020

Under Armour Pride HOVR Phantom 1 Slip Angled

Held each year in June, Pride Month is a glorious annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. During Pride Month, there are peaceful protests, parades, events, parties, festivals, which all work to spread awareness of issues facing the community.

For sneaker brands, it's an opportunity celebrate the community with special edition releases, and also support them with heart-felt initiatives. Let's take a look at what they served up in 2020.

Under Armour

Arguably, Under Armour had one of the best 2020 Pride Month releases. Dressing their HOVR Phantom Slip in rainbow tie-dye details, this is definitely an on-trend look.

Alongside a whole footwear and apparel collection, UA decided to start their own Pride grant program, which aims to help LGBTQ+ organizations deal with fincancial hardships caused by COVID-19.

Converse

Converse went hard with their installment Pride-themed Chuck 70s and Chuck Taylor All-Stars. This is their fifth year in a row contributing to the celebrations, and they came in strong, offering up swag of rainbow-coloured creps.

Reebok

Reebok have mixed it up with their offering, tapping the Club C, Instapump, Nano X, Zig Kinetica, and a pair of slides for Pride makeovers. Switching it up, some pairs feature all-over rainbow details, while the others have more subtle hits.

Nike

What would Pride Month be without Nike's signature BeTrue innitiative. This year, the spotlight is on the Air Force 1, Air Max 2090 and ACG Deschutz. Each pair has received it's own unique Pride look.

To go with the heater collection, NIke have pledged their support to over 20 organizations focused on advancing the LGBTQ+ community.

Vans

Vans has created a video championing the message of unity and equality. The brand stresses that everyone within the LGBTQ+ community has a voice to be heard.

adidas

adidas have gone all out with their Pride lineup, dropping three silhouettes with hectic details. The Nite Jogger and the Harden Vol.4 get doused in rainbow, while the Stan Smith has been given a mismatched look sporting pink and blue.

New Balance

Translucent logos, technical uppers and rainbow details?! New Balance went crazy on their 2020 Pride offerings. We've been blessed with two Fuel Cell Echos, a darker blue men's version and a women's rendition in aqua. Alongside the sneakers, there was a massive lineup of apparel.
